About me

I left school to complete a customer service apprenticeship within Stirling Council. I completed my MA in two years and I have now moved into a full time role as a Public Transport Support Officer. I arrange school transport for all of Stirling’s ASN school pupils as well as managing DRT and Taxicard. Before moving into the full time position within Stirling Council I worked at a private hire company organising wedding vehicles and executive transport. I did that role for 9 months before returning to Stirling Council.

Left school

November 2019.

Senior Phase

I achieved National 5 (SCQF level 5) in Modern Studies and Maths and Higher (SCQF level 6) English. I studied Admin &IT and Advanced Higher (SCQF  level 7) Art but left school to begin my apprenticeship before completing these courses.

Choosing my Destination

I used the support of Skills Development Scotland and my friends and relatives to help choose my destination; Myjobscotland is also a useful source.

Extra Curricular & Work Experience

I worked in the school's Community Cafe during school time and at weekends helped with my customer service skills a lot!

Skills I've developed

Customer service skills but specifically communication with answering phone calls and dealing with customers face to face being able to identify tone and being understanding

My organisational skills have developed in work where I have deadlines to meet most days and it is important to make sure i am organised to meet those.

My Advice

You do not need a set plan, there is no pressure to go to university or college - you must do whatever is best for you. Prioritise yourself over your friends and find a job you love!
