Assemblies are a valued part of school life, giving us the chance to come together as a community each week. Every year group has its own time for assembly, with S1 on Mondays, S2 on Tuesdays, S3 on Wednesdays, S4 on Thursdays and S5 and S6 on Fridays. This replaces form class on these days.
Our assemblies are varied and engaging, covering a wide range of important themes such as:
Sustainability
Mental health and wellbeing
Kindness and respect
Racism and equality
Money and finance
Technology and AI
Healthy lifestyles
Resilience
Study skills and learning strategies
Ambition and aspirations
These sessions allow us to celebrate achievements, reinforce high standards, and explore school, local and global issues that matter to our pupils.
Assemblies are led regularly by our Depute Head Teachers, but they are also a valuable leadership platform for pupils. Our pupil captaincy team, House Captains, Mental Health Ambassadors, Sports Leaders and Girls in Sport have all delivered assemblies, sharing their perspectives and inspiring their peers. Guest speakers such as the fire brigade, the police, chaplains and leaders of other faith groups also enrich the programme by offering real-world insights and experiences.
Our assemblies bring pupils together, creating a strong sense of community and belonging. They help young people reflect on the values that underpin school life and wider society, while also equipping them with knowledge and skills that prepare them for the future. Our assemblies encourage pupils to think deeply about important issues, celebrate the successes of others, and consider their own role in contributing positively to the school and the wider world. For those who lead, they provide opportunities to develop confidence, leadership and communication skills.
For these reasons, it is vital that all pupils attend assemblies. They are an essential part of learning, personal development and school life, helping our pupils to grow into informed, responsible and compassionate individuals.
