Reports in the Senior Phase are based around the pupil's target grade. See below for further information on different grades.

Target

A target grade will be set using baseline assessment data that we hold for learners in conversation with their teacher. They are aspirational, based on projected attainment using data gathered through formative and summative assessments. A target grade may change as learners progress through the year.

UCAS (Predicted Grade)

A predicted grade is the grade of qualification a learner's school believes they’re likely to achieve in positive circumstances. These predicted grades are then used by universities and colleges, as part of the admissions process, to help them understand an applicant’s potential.

Prelim

A prelim grade is the grade given for the assessment evidence produced during prelim exams. Prelim performances make up part of the assessment evidence used to produce final estimate grades.

SQA Estimate

An estimate grade is a judgement of a final grade and band for a graded National Course across all assessment components and this is often different from the prelim grade. It is based on assessment evidence. It is a realistic, evidence-based prediction of a learner’s final attainment in the course assessment (exam). Estimate grades are sent to SQA before exams take place.
