About me

After finishing school I completed a Higher National Diploma in Administration and Information Technology. After finishing college in 2022 I moved into a full time role as Project Finance Assistant within Natural Power. I am a centralised resource which supports the wider operations and assets team with the delivery of their services, my responsibilities include invoicing, project and sales contract management along with other support functions.

Senior Phase

I studied National 5 (SCQF level 5) in Maths, PE and Spanish, Highers (SCQF level 6) in English and Admin & IT and Advanced Higher (SCQF level 7) in Art.

Choosing my Destination

I spoke to my friends and family who advised me about the position available within Natural Power - the job was also advertised on the college’s website and I contacted my lecturer for advice then applied!

Extra Curricular & Work Experience

I completed my work experience with Highland Spring - I assisted the reception team with general admin tasks. gave me an insight into what an office job could be like which interested me. In school I worked in the Community Cafe where I gained customer service & communication skills. I worked part time in Allan Water Cafe & Dobbies Restaurant - working here allowed me to further develop my customer service & communication skills i already had.

Skills I've developed

Collaboration & Communication - many method of communication are used within my workplace for example emailing project managers and clients as well as teams and face to face meetings with them also.

My Advice

Work hard to achieve your goals but don’t put pressure on yourself to have a set plan when leaving school. Find something you love to do and pursue it.
