SHS Bee Project

The Hive

We are the Stirling High School Bee Project. We have two bee hives up at Stirling Castle that a small group of us attend to nearly every week. We aim to help bees and try to improve our environment, whilst also selling honey to make money for our school. We are a very busy group (no pun intended) that help around the school a lot.

Business & Enterprise

The skills we develop from this really separates us from most other students as we have fun learning, speaking up about problems, talking to tourists at the castle, teaching younger and older people about what we do, giving demonstrations these all come to be the top set skills - responsibility - communication - confidence - critical thinking - creativity - and decision making.

Awards

In 2020 we received a Social Enterprise Award for our work with Stirling Castle and Plan Bee. We are also working towards our Junior/Senior Bee Keeping Awards.

Partnerships

We are partnered with Plan Bee and Stirling Castle. We work with people from both organisations and pass on our knowledge to them. We've also previously had the Scouts up at our hives eager to learn all about our bees.

Goals & Aims

As a conservationist group we aim to do our part and help save the bees. We want to educate our fellow students and teachers about bees and how they can do their bit to protect their existence.
