Course specification: Higher Administration and IT Course Specification

The Course aims to enable you to:

  • develop knowledge and understanding of administration in the workplace and its importance

  • develop a range of advanced IT skills for processing and managing information

  • develop a range of skills to communicate complex information effectively, making appropriate use of IT

  • acquire skills required for completing Advanced Higher and University projects and dissertations.

Assessment

Externally marked assignment worth 70 marks and an examination question paper worth 50 marks.

Progression

HNC Office Administration, HND Office and Management Information, degree courses at University. A range of employment opportunities within the business environment.

Entry requirements

This course builds on skills, knowledge and understanding gained at National 5 Administration and IT. For those of you wishing to do this as a “crash” Higher in S6, then a pass in Higher English is essential. The course develops your advanced administrative and IT skills and enables you to contribute to the effective functioning of organisations in supervisory administrative positions.

A or B in N5 Admin & IT and/or A or B in N5 Maths.

Crash Higher available in S6 only. Crash Higher pupils are required to work through N5 materials during study periods.
