The Eco Club recently won a National Award presented by the Headteachers’ Association of Scotland and sponsored by the Homework Diary Foundation for their work with the Friends of King’s Park.

Links are now being established with the Friends of Beechwood Park. This will allow pupils to have an input to the refurbishment of the park which is next to the New School.

The ECO Club has links with the School Nutrition Action Group and the Health Promoting School Group. Programmes and activities are linked and co-ordinated.

The work of the ECO Club is influencing curriculum development. There are numerous examples of environmental topics covered throughout the school’s curriculum and pupils are identifying links across the curriculum which has then led to teaching staff working more co-operatively.

The ECO Club is truly inclusive, with students of all ages participating. The Club has enabled a number of ASN pupils to make enormous strides in developing socially, especially in terms of their confidence.
